As a big fan of David Bowie, I enjoy celebrating the anniversaries of his classic albums. In 2017, when I made this project, it was too late to do anything for the anniversaries of his very celebrated 1977 releases: Low and “Heroes.” There was a gap in his releases in 1978 while he was on his world tour: Isolar II. 1979 was his next big releases, although Lodger was not a commercial or critical success at the time it has been recognized in hindsight as one of his most influential albums, being an often-cited influence for 90s Britpop bands.

The animation I created for this album’s anniversary is based on Lodger’s strange original cover, as I essentially recreated the cover but with more Google related text on the post card. I replaced the address of RCA, his record label at the time, with the address of Google’s London office and changed the album title to “Google” and used a persistent animation to keep the letters pulsing after the original animation was complete. The animation was made using some hand-made CSS and animate.css by Daniel Eden.

Thanks for reading.
